What we do

Our Mission

Ugandan Creatives Directory is simple but powerful: to be the leading platform for promoting Uganda’s vibrant creative community, while also preserving and celebrating the country’s cultural heritage. The platform aims to grow by continuously supporting creatives, expanding into new categories, and enhancing its offerings with tools that help Ugandan artists and culture bearers flourish.

Our History

The idea for the directory was born out of the recognition that while Uganda has a thriving creative scene from artists and sculptors to musicians, filmmakers, designers, and culture bearers many of these talented individuals and organizations lacked visibility and a structured way to showcase their work. The directory aims to bridge this gap by creating a digital space where anyone, from art enthusiasts to potential clients or collaborators, can easily discover and connect with Ugandan creatives.

The concept aligns with Uganda’s growing creative economy and the recognition that cultural industries play a key role in the nation’s social and economic development. By connecting artisans and culture bearers with both local and international audiences, the directory serves as a tool to uplift communities, foster collaboration, and support the sustainability of Uganda’s creative economy.

Uganda’s creative community has a deep and storied history, from its traditional music and dance to its contemporary art movements. The directory not only serves current creatives but honors Uganda’s rich cultural legacy by including culture bearers those individuals and groups who are the custodians of Uganda’s heritage, from traditional artisans to cultural leaders.

The launch of the Ugandan Creatives Directory marks a significant moment in the preservation and promotion of Uganda’s diverse creative expressions. It underscores the importance of culture as a dynamic force that evolves while maintaining its roots in the country’s traditions and values.
